Most mornings I run with my dog, an Australian Sheppard. She is always alert and senses things long before I do. Today there were horses in the pasture enjoying the sunshine and the cool temperature, about 55 degrees. We were both startled by a beautiful rooster scratching in the leaves beside the trail, not something one expects to see. We also saw the first snake of the year, a small, about 5 inches long, king snake.
I’m always impressed with the variety of wild flowers we see and they change week by week. Right now we have wild geranium, the mountain laurel is finally blooming, and trillium is still around along with the wild iris. The many hardwood trees are fully leaved-out now and are a beautiful shade of spring green.
