Fun In Highlands-Cashiers
When my wife and I first bought our second home here and were coming up from Atlanta on weekends, we could hardly wait to take our hikes and see what was blooming. The opportunities for hiking, fishing, kayaking and just star gazing at night are among the resources available. With no ambient light to interfere with seeing all the stars at night we often see satellites go by. When the moon is full one of our favorite things to do is walk the trails using no flashlight. In June, the lightning bugs put on a spectacular display, the meadows and woods light up with thousands.
Considering how much there is to do and how pleasant life is here, a large majority of homes sales in the area start out to be second homes and many end up being retirement homes.
